BRIEF CASES 1998 Portland City Hall, Portland, Oregon Developed and built collaboratively with Tad Savinar and Bill Will, this piece was located just outside the Council Chambers of this renovated, historic building. The work consists of 28 cast bronze objects and 28 stainless steel plates each located on its own, but intersecting grids. The plates are evocative of the city, its systems, laws, and geography. The objects evoke the quirkiness of individuals through small assemblages which play with narrative, illusion, humor, scale and the individual experience. At City Hall, these two systems (civic and the individual) intersect, creating the dynamics and social fabric of a city. Cast Bronze
