Harlequin
Cary Arts Center, Cary, NC

HARLEQUIN  2011

Cary Arts Center (renovated from the Cary Old Elementary School building), Cary, NC
The integrated and collaborative work by Jim Hirschfield, Sonya Ishii, & Norie Sato refers to the building’s original use as a school and its contemporary use as an art center. It includes flytower sculptures; a lobby with lit glass walls, glass doors and murals; a theater curtain; a plaza and artistic benches.  The flytower’s glass and steel sculptures are inspired by the harlequin costume and is echoed in the theater’s curtain, connecting the two. Collaboration with Clearscapes.
