DIALOGUE 2001-2002 University of Washington Bothell/Cascadia Community College, co-located, Bothell Washington A 3 part artwork about dialogue and conversation between 2 educational institutions on the same new campus. Part 1 is “Bothell Codex”, a central plaza area paved in the shape of a book, with text combining binary code and genetic code. Part 2, “Dogwood Parentheses”, incorporates 10 dogwood trees planted in 2 arcs accentuated by low stone walls that form “parentheses”. They metaphorically frame the “conversation” between students, faculty, the 2 institutions. Part 3, “Library”, includes 7 sets of life size cast bronze, embellished books installed into a rockery wall which lines the central spine linking all the 2 institutions and shared facilities, and the central plaza area. Note: parts of this artwork have been dismantled due to changes and updates to the campus plan and landscape. Washington State Arts Commission/University of Washington Art Program
