Pellier Park       2023                      San Jose, CA

An homage to Louis Pellier and the Pellier family who first introduced the prune to the Santa Clara Valley and started the fruit industry there. This park was a collaborative effort with swa of San Francisco, where no art was actually included, but the entire park was artful.  Many details from the overall design of the park inspired by a plum/prune cut in half, to the storytelling wall, to agricultural details and a community table at the center contribute to its distinctive layout and design.  An actual Prune d'Agen tree whose ancestor the Pelliers brought to the valley from France is also included. The City of San Jose's public art program was actively involved, including funding for artist fees and selecting me to be an integral part of the project.  The Master Plan for the park can be explored on another page of this site.
