Windswept Air
Port of Portland Headquarters, Portland OR

WINDSWEPT AIR       2010
Port of Portland Headquarters, Portland, OR
A two-part work activates a large area bounded by a stadium stair system and a café/lunch area for employees. The laminated glass images evoke the idea of looking upwards to the sky, while keeping references of being ground based and of the various activities of the Port of Portland. At the café, 4 layers of sliding glass panels create an interplay between front and back, transparency and translucency, visibility and screening, order or slight disorder as users open and close panels.  Glass panels follow the super stairs, creating an edge focal point visible from both sides.

7’ x 25’ x 9” (13 different panels) at café,  10’ x 18” x 1” (height of glass varies) at stadium stair.  Image film laminated glass.
